Chestnut Villa comprises five individually decorated rooms, each with it's own unique view of the mountains.
The rooms all come with smart TV’s, tea and coffee stations, bathrobes, toiletries and hairdryers. Each room offers a beautiful view of the surrounding fells – a vista that can also be enjoyed from the large, comfortable and spacious dining room. Whether you’re a keen walker or photographer, a literary enthusiast or are simply looking for the perfect escape from the city, you’ll find Chestnut Villa offers a tranquil haven and an assured warm welcome in one of the world's great natural beauty spots.
Our Story
Chestnut Villa is located in the very heart of the English Lake District and was originally built in 1850 as a coaching inn for travellers.
The house has been sympathetically renovated and retains many of the original features and period details. We have a range of room types from cosy, to superior, to a suite, all with fabulous views of the surrounding mountains.
The house is situated at the northern edge of Grasmere village and is a half mile to the centre of the village with it’s busy array of shops, art galleries, cafe’s & restaurants and of course, the gingerbread shop!
- ALCOCK TARNWith beautiful views to the front and rear of the house, this suite offers separate areas for the bedroom and lounge. The lounge has a 40” smart TV and comfy sofa for you to unwind and relax after a long day of exploring. The bedroom enjoys ample space and a luxurious king size bed, whilst the bathroom offers a walk in rainforest shower, roll top bath, wash basin and WC. This room from £150 per night.
- EASEDALEOne of our Superior rooms with a beautiful view of Easedale, Helm Crag and Silver how. The room has a luxurious king size bed, 40” smart TV & bathrobes. The room has the largest bathroom in the house with underfloor heating, roll top bath, walk in rainforest shower, wash basin and WC. This room from £145 per night.
- SILVER HOWWith beautiful views to the front and rear of the house, this suite is one of our most spacious. Located on the ground floor and with separate areas for the lounge, bedroom and outside patio. The lounge enjoys a 40” smart TV and comfy sofa so that you can relax after a long day. The bedroom area has a luxurious king size bed and the bathroom has a bath with rainfall shower, wash basin and WC. This room from £160 per night.
- HELM CRAGThis spacious room is on the top floor and has exceptional views to the front and rear of the house. A beautiful attic room with amble space for a comfy sofa, luxurious king size bed and walk in wardrobe. The bathroom has underfloor heating, walk in rainforest shower, roll top bath, wash basin and WC. This room from £145 per night.

Directions
By Car:
We are pretty easy to find but take a note of our a number and call if you’re in any difficulty.
Chestnut Villa is situated just on the edge of Grasmere village, on the A591, Keswick Road.
From the South:
M6 exit at junction 36 for “Kendal / South Lakes”. Follow A591 all the way to Grasmere – it continues to Keswick.
As you approach Grasmere, keep on the A591 at the mini roundabout, ie. take 2nd exit (1st exit would take you into the village). Slow down once you pass The Swan Hotel on your right and a lane to the left (Swan Lane). Chestnut Villa is just passed the second lane on your left (Pye Lane).
From the North:
M6 exit junction 40 “North Lakes / Penrith / Keswick”. Take the A66 North towards Keswick. Turn left for “Thirlmere / St John in the Vale” (soon after a the cow alert sign). Follow lane to the other end (approx 5 miles) and go left for Grasmere. As you descend into Grasmere you’ll pass the Travellers Rest pub on the left. Chestnut Villa is first building on the right (2nd driveway)
